Driveway & Concrete Repair in Burlington County, NJ

Not every cracked slab needs to be torn out. Tell us what you are seeing, and a partner contractor can tell you whether a repair, leveling or replacement makes sense.

Common problems and what usually fixes them

  • Hairline cracks. Most concrete cracks a little as it shrinks. Narrow, stable cracks can often be sealed to keep water out.
  • Sunken or tilted slabs. When the soil underneath settles or washes out, sections can drop. Slab lifting, using injected grout (mudjacking) or expanding polyurethane foam, can raise a section that is otherwise in good shape.
  • Scaling and flaking. When the top layer peels away, often after winters of freeze-thaw and deicing salt, a resurfacing overlay may help if the slab underneath is sound. If the damage is deep, replacement may be more reliable.
  • Heaving from tree roots. Roots can lift sidewalks and driveways. Grinding down a lip may handle a small trip hazard, but cutting large roots can harm or destabilize a tree. Check township tree rules first, especially for street trees.
  • Broken sections. Badly cracked or crumbling sections can often be cut out at joints and replaced without redoing the whole slab, though new concrete will not match the old color exactly.

Repair or replace?

As a rule of thumb, if most of the slab is solid and the problems are local, repair or leveling can buy years. If cracking is widespread, sections have broken into pieces, or the base has failed broadly, replacement tends to be the better investment. Ask the contractor to explain why they recommend one over the other.

Protect what you have

  • Seal cracks before winter so water cannot get in and freeze.
  • Keep downspouts from emptying onto the driveway edge, which can wash out the base.
  • Avoid rock salt on newer concrete; ask your contractor what deicer they recommend.
  • Penetrating sealers can help some concrete resist water and salt; ask whether yours would benefit.

Cost factors

We do not publish prices. The number and length of cracks, the area that needs lifting or resurfacing, access and whether any sections must be removed are the main drivers.
